BUET EEE Alumni Initiative

BUET EEE Alumni Initiative

How it works

From supervisor nomination to published awards — one transparent cycle.

Process

  • Eligibility — Current full-time BUET EEE postgraduate (M.Sc. Engg. or Ph.D.) students with an assigned thesis supervisor.
  • Nomination — The application is forwarded by the thesis supervisor (and Head of the Department per departmental policy). Supervisors use the fixed email template to obtain a one-time apply token.
  • Application — Student uploads resume, transcript, and a research proposal (background, objectives, methodology, expected outcomes).
  • Review — A Working Committee selects recipients through a blind review process against the published rubric (academic standing, supervisor feedback, and reviewer categories).
  • Awards — Disbursed twice a year: one semester as the Prof. Mohammad Ali Choudhury Memorial Award, the other as the EEE Alumni Excellence Award. Recipients receive a certificate and a hybrid/in-person award ceremony hosted by the department.

Full-time M.Sc. Engg. students may apply once; Ph.D. students may apply twice. Award support is approximately BDT 35,000/month for three academic semesters, with possible Ph.D. renewal based on performance.
